Welcome to the 2015 South Florida Fall Flag Football Championships –

We hope you are excited about this event as this will be one of the greatest flag football tournaments in Florida!

TOURNAMENT LOCATION:

Tradewinds Park – 3600 W Sample Rd, Coconut Creek, FL 33066

·         We will be using field 3 (as seen on the attached map)

·         This field will be broken down into 3 fields for the entire tournament.

TOURNAMENT CHECK IN:

Check in will take place near the gazebo by field 3.  Coaches are required to check in with their full team on Saturday, December 19th at your assigned check in time.  Please do not approach the registration tables unless all players are present.  All players and coaches will receive wrist bands which they will be required to wear throughout the tournament.  Any player not wearing a wristband will be ineligible to participate.  Each team will only be allowed 3 coaches on the field.

 If you have not already turned in your team’s waivers, please send them to [email protected] as soon as possible.  If you cannot collect them prior to the tournament, please be aware that no participants will be eligible to play until these forms are turned in.

 SPECIAL APPEARANCES & EVENTS:

·         Fastest Player Competition: There will be a break in games from 11:40 – 12:20 when we will be holding our fastest man competition.  Any player playing in the tournament is eligible to participate.  We will separate runners by grade and each group will run a 40 yard dash to determine the fastest player!  There will be trophies for the winners!

 CONCESSIONS:

A concession stand will be open near the fields selling hot dogs, nachos, pretzels, popcorn, drinks and more!

TOURNAMENT FORMAT:

The tournament will feature a 3 game pool play format on Saturday.  All teams will advance to single elimination games being played later in the evening.  Seeding will be based on pool play performance. The tournament guarantees a minimum of 3 scheduled games.

 
RULES:

Due to the time restrictions of this event, certain rule modifications will be in place for this tournament.

             Please note the following:

·         Games are played with two 14 minute halves with a 2 minute half time.

·         Each team will receive ONE 30 second time out per GAME.

·         The clock WILL NOT stop in the final minute of the second half. Both halves will use a running clock. Use your timeout wisely!

·         There will be no overtime in round robin play.

·         Interceptions may be returned – EXCEPT on an extra point attempt.

·         There is no “Replay of Down” rule in the K/1 (Lombardi) Division.

·         All games are played on a two way field. 

·         NFL flag football jerseys or light and dark shirts or jerseys are required.

·         All coaches must be off the field prior to the snap of the ball.

o   EXCEPTION: K/1 (Lombardi) Division, offensive coaches may remain on the field as long as they are out of the way of play. 

·         In bracket play, Sudden Death overtime format will be used:

o   A coin toss determines possession.

o   The ball will be spotted at the 5 yard line. Teams will be driving towards midfield.

o   Each team will receive two plays to go as far as they can.

o   The team that gains the most yards, wins.

o   If tied after Sudden Death, the process will be repeated.

o   Interceptions cannot be returned in overtime.

o   If there is an interception on a team’s first attempt, this will result in 0 yards total for that team, they will not get a 2nd attempt.

o   If there is an interception on a team’s second attempt, this will result in 0 yards for that attempt, but the team’s yardage on their 1st attempt will still count.

 PLEASE keep a copy of the Tournament Rules – Championship version 3.5 with you at all times during the tournament.

The 2015 1st inaugural  South Florida Flag Football Fall Championships presented by Dick's Sporting Goods is a National Flag Football tournament for any team currently registered in our 2015 fall season. Expected to join are teams from across all three divisions who will come together to battle for numerous division titles. If you think your team has what it takes, join us for an event like no other.

Style:
5 vs. 5 flag football (YOUTH 6U - 14U)

Format:
*3 game guarantee
* This is a one day tournament where all teams will be playing 3 games minimum. Teams will compete in a 3 game round robin followed up with a single elimination playoff bracket. Round robin play will determine bracket seeding.

There is only one division of play offered which is exclusively for current National Flag Football teams. 

NFF DIVISION (3 divisions to choose from): 
K/1st grade, 2nd/3rd grade, and 4th/5th/6th grade
Teams can only compete in this division if they are currently enrolled in the 2015 Fall NFF season and all players are on the roster that was assigned to them. Any additions or modifications to this roster, will move your team into the Gold bracket. 

FASTEST PLAYER CONTEST:
Each year, we host a fastest player contest. This is a really fun and exciting time for all of our players. This event is usually ran around noon on Saturday. Participants are separated into ages and will compete in a 40 yard dash. Each division will have a champion that will receive an award.
FOOD VENDORS:
We will have numerous food trucks on site to make sure that you have plenty of great options to choose from.
